Cafe Service – July 2018

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.

This was the text at our Cafe Service in July led by our own Rev. David Spence. He talked us through the passage from Revelation chapter 3 and verses 14-22 with special mention of the well known verse 20:

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.

If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in

and eat with that person, and they with me.

This verse is said to have been the inspiration for the famous painting The Light of the World by Holman Hunt. We studied this picture and had a lively discussion about what we could, and could not, see.

It seemed fitting to be thinking about the Lord sharing food with us, if we ask Him into our hearts, as we shared a meal together. We talked generally around our table as we chose from a variety of sandwiches, quiches and cakes, and, of course, drank several cups of tea.
